Here on a steep, rather
unstable,
but big and beautiful bush site in central Waiheke Island we are
constructing a new garage and studio over. Also on the site we are
moving on a house and setting this on new 6 metre deep piles (12 metres
o/a length).
Connecting the two will be a driveway. As is usual on Waiheke new waste
processing system, water tanks, and extensive replanting and
landscaping are part of the Consent Conditions. This work has now begun
again.
The house was moved on to the site at 4am by Fistonich building movers
in November following some intensive work locating the piles and the
new bearers to support the house. The decks have now been completed and
the roof - removed for transport - has been rebuilt.
The most recent developments have been the establishment of the
retaining walls to redirect the stormwater flow to the watercourse in
the valley, refurbishment and repalcement of the joinery and completion
of the glazed verandas.
The owner would like to comment that the establishment costs of moving
or constructing a house on a steep bush sections on Waiheke Island are
expensive and sections need to be realistically priced (low) to allow
for this.
