Richards & Coe Architects are an Auckland-based practice
who carry out a broad range of work, from renovations and additions
through to large new dwellings. Office fitouts, education and
community buildings, and townhouse developments are all projects
that have been successfully completed by our practice. Richards
& Coe work throughout the Auckland region, including the Gulf
Islands and more recently in other locations in this beautiful
country.
Richards & Coe are particularly interested in eco-architecture.
We use green products and processes and employ eco-design principals
wherever possible in our work.
Practice principal Geoffrey Richards is an architect with more
than 20 years' experience in New Zealand and Europe. Geoffrey
completed his architecture studies at South Bank University in
London and a Masters degree at Auckland University before registering
as an architect (ANZIA) in New Zealand.
"During my training I worked extensively on large commercial
projects in Britain including substantial renovation and renewal
projects to large heritage buildings in the centre of London."
Geoffrey worked in Genova, Italy, before returning to New Zealand
in 1993 to set up his practice. He has lectured in architecture
at the University of Auckland and AUT and has written for a number
of publications, including Architecture NZ. He edits the NZIA
newsletter, Architext. and is a member of Institute committees.
"Building and architecture in New Zealand is really dynamic
now. Being part of this creative energy drives our practice along
to design and construct the excellent buildings that New Zealanders
expect from their architects."
